Regionalism and regional integration are not new practices in Africa. More recently, the signing and ratification of the African continental free trade area (AfCFTA) by most African states has reignited academic and policy interest in integration and regionalism. This essay unpacks the continental free trade area and analyses its implications for peace and security in the Horn.
