Our newest Horn of Africa Bulletin issue focuses on peacebuilding and mediation in the Horn of Africa and African Great Lakes regions. We are launching this issue with a reflection piece on personal mediation experiences.
Summary
Mariam Babu is a member of FEMWISE Africa. She reflects on mediating between conflicting communities along the Songwe River basin between the Republic of Tanzania and Malawi. In the article, she shows the significance of inclusivity of all key stakeholders in negotiation and mediation processes. She states, 'The inclusive approach allows local communities to feel consulted, involved, and own whatever decision is taken’.
