LPI’s Executive Director takes on the Chair of the European Peace Liaison Office (EPLO)
The European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO) welcomed Judy McCallum, Executive Director of the Life & Peace Institute (LPI), as its incoming Chair of the Steering Committee.
EPLO, an independent civil society platform of European organisations, networks and think tanks committed to peacebuilding and the prevention of violent conflict, has grown since its founding in 2001, with a current membership of 55 organisations across 18 European Countries. LPI joined the network in 2007.
EPLO’s mission is to influence European policy-makers to take a more active and effective approach in securing peace and nonviolent forms of conflict resolution in all regions of the world. The network also empowers its members by keeping them informed about relevant EU policies and advocating for their interests.
“I am humbled and excited to take on this challenge during these difficult times when supporting and building peace in Europe and around the world is even more critical and needed. I sincerely appreciate the trust in being allowed to serve in this capacity.”
The Steering Committee consists of 6 members elected for two-year terms and in their personal capacity, with the understanding that they work in the interest of EPLO, independent of their professional commitments elsewhere.
Judy takes over the chair from Jonathan Cohen, Executive Director of Conciliation Resources.
